A few weeks ago I posted here about how thrilled I was that my question for Judy Ann Santos (or Judai) was chosen for the Johnsons Baby Philippines Facebook page live chat. I asked her about how she kept herself updated with parenting trends and tips. Yes I was thrilled because one, I think Judai is one of those artistas who has a good head on her shoulders. She seems grounded and “real”. I saw her and her hubby Ryan with their kids at Rockwell riding those mechanical animals like they were normal people. I guess I didn’t see their security detail but it was so cool to just see them do normal things parents like us would do.

And because my question was chosen, I was given a Johnson’s Baby Milk Bath gift pack! It was totally unexpected but it was such a sweet gesture. It was really cool too because that supply would last our family a good month or so (we got two big bottles of Johnsons’ Baby Milk Bath and a really soft towel).
That video where she answered my question is just one of many that Johnson’s Baby Philippines recorded. Apparently, most questions asked of her were skincare tips. Seeing Judai now, I see why it was the most popular kind of question because the woman is blooming! She is much more radiant now and in this video, she shares what keeps her skin young:

I have skin asthma and it’s important for me to use really gentle soaps and washes. I have a variety that I use consisting of organic and commercial products and among those is Johnson’s Baby Milk Bath. DW uses what I use too. If a product aggravates my skin asthma, chances are it will irritate DW’s skin too. I am his willing guinea pig and I am happy to say that Johnson’s Baby Milk Bath is part of our daily bathing rituals. I use the wash in the morning in the shower with my loofah while DW uses his with a soft washcloth.

You can view more of Mommy Judai’s skincare and other parenting tips at her special FB page within the Johnson’s Baby Philippines official Facebook page here Enjoy the videos and enjoy using Johnson’s Baby Milk Bath!

A review of My Dentist's Tooth Tissues vs SansFluo Teeth and Gum Wipes. We've used both and we're happy we stuck with My Dentist's Choice. See why we chose the Tooth Tissues at the blog!

When DW was a wee baby we massaged his gums using a clean piece cotton bud and sterilized water. We then moved on to using a baby toothbrush from Pigeon (see my review of that one here) . We supplemented that with tooth and gum wipes from Sansfluo for those times when DW goes straight to sleep at night. The Sansflou wipes had xylitol and it’s one step above using clean gauze soaked in water (which is just as effective). However, we used the wipes sparingly because they smelled like vomit. It smelled so awful that BDW has refused to clean DW’s teeth with them. (I’m always stuck with the stinky jobs!!) If you’re one who’s concerned about chemicals, the wipes also use methylparaben, a preservative that has anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties. Concerns have been raised over this chemical because parabens are said to be endocrine disruptors. Skin Deep Cosmetics Database gives this ingredient a 4 out of 10 for danger. (See relevant links here, here and here).

Now we’ve done away with the Sansfluo wipes in favor of My Dentist’s Choice Tooth Tissues:

Here’s a quick rundown of the Tooth Tissues:

The Pros:

- The wipes smell good and fresh.

- The wipes are packed like ordinary wipes so they’re easy to use.

- The wipes are thick and large.

- The wipes smell good and fresh.

- Paraben Free and Sugar Free

The cons:

- Not widely available. The only retail store that carries them now is Numa Baby. You can also order via the following:
email: ymsorders@gmail.com| sms: +63 922 551 8956 | multiply: http://yellowmustardseed.multiply.com/products/listing/10001/Tooth_Tissues

- Price: One pack is 300. I’m not sure how much the Sansfluo wipes are but the Tooth Tissues are definitely more expensive.

My Dentist’s Choice is a product of two parents in the US who are also dentists. I found out about them via OCMominManila. We’re down to a few tissues and I’ve ordered again from Yellow Mustard Seed. We bring the tooth tissues with us wherever we go and is especially useful when DW had a particularly sweet treat. He loves chomping on the tissues too. These tissues come out when DW would fall asleep while drinking his milk. I take out the bottle, have him drink water to rinse out the milk and then I clean his teeth with the tissues. (Easier said than done though, struggle ito).

If you want to try out a pack, you may contact Tine of Yellow Mustard Seed via Email: ymsorders@gmail.com| SMS: +63 922 551 8956

You can also place your orders via their multiply site http://yellowmustardseed.multiply.com/

I roadtested the Pura Kiki Stainless Steel bottle and I fell in love with the product at first sight! Learn more about this safe, BPA-free product that grows with your kid at the blog!

Everytime we go out with DW, we always bring a bottle of water for him. That’s the minimum requirement for an active toddler like DW and I want to make sure he’s hydrated. Consumo Inc, the exclusive distributor of Pura Kiki stainless bottles here in the Philippines sent me a Pura Kiki Stainless Steel Bottle to try out and I fell in love at first sight.

The bottle is made of stainless steel so you can be assured that none of those harmful toxins like BPAs, Pthlates, lead and PVC would leak to your kid’s drink. It’s also lightweight and slim so that it can fit in the outside pocket of any bag. (I wrote about BPA and BPA-Free bottles here and here )

The collar/wide neck is also made of stainless steel while the sippy spout is made of medical-grade silicone. The cap is made of soft silicone too and it seals the sippy in tight.

I requested the sippy because DW has enough milk bottles already. However you can use the same bottle as a milk bottle, just replace the sippy with whatever nipple you’re currently using. The Avent firm sippy spout can actually fit this bottle as well if you prefer a harder spout for your kid to use.

Other nipples that can be used with the Pura Kiki system are:

Avent® 12m+ Sports Spout, ThinkBaby™ Nipples, Born Free™ Nipples, Dr. Brown’s™ Wide Neck Nipples, MAM™ Nipples, Pigeon™ Silicone Nipples, and UPIS nipples

The bottle can be sterilized just like any feeding bottle. The wide neck makes it very easy to clean as well. The bottle has external and internal markings although I have to admit, eyeballing the water level can be a bit tricky.

This bottle also wins points for being so cool-looking. We’ve actually gotten a lot of compliments from the bottle from strangers because it’s just so different. The only setback I see is the price. This bottle that I tested retails for Php 990. It’s an investment for sure but then again, you can buy this same bottle as a feeding bottle and convert it into a water bottle which your kid can bring to school! I’ve actually eyed this for my own water bottle too but I guess have to buy my own haha

Pura Kiki bottles are now available at Hobbes & Landes (High Street, Greenbelt 5, Rockwell) , Numa organic baby store(QC), Sesou Nature source (Trinoma, Market! Market! And Alabang) , and Spoiled! baby store (Ortigas Center). Their facebook page is www.facebook.com/puraphil and the official Pura Kiki page is at http://www.purastainless.com/

And now for the giveaway!! Because I loved this bottle so much, I asked Consumo if they’d be willing to raffle off a bottle for manilamommy readers! They gladly said YES! AAAND they’re giving away a pair of 11 oz. stainless steel bottles with your choice of color plus silicon sleeves!!
