I realized that I shouldn’t make New Year’s resolutions. I’m really bad at keeping them most especially those which involve exercise and losing weight. I love food and softdrinks too much kasi haha. But what I do believe in are new chances. Hindi lang second chance, in my 37 years of existence, I have been given so many chances to make the most of what I can be. I pray that when I am given new opportunities that I will not waste them and that I will be able to share them too.
So, when I found out about this list from Popsugar, “45 Life Lessons from a 90 Year Old Woman”, they all spoke to me. These life lessons all apply to all my roles — mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend, employee, blogger, entrepreneur, etc. Maski sabihing common sense lang naman talaga ang karamihan, I really feel na I need to be reminded of some truths that I have taken for granted. Sometimes, life is overwhelming and I have a tendency to focus on all the things that are going wrong. Sabi nga ni Jason Mraz, “I Won’t Worry My Life Away” hehe. Ang tagal tagal ko ng theme song ng buhay ko yan haha 😀
I found myself nodding in agreement to all of these so I wanted to share them with you too. Which ones resonated to you? Which ones do you live by? If you can choose just one or two from the list, which ones would be part of your personal mantras?
- Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
- When in doubt, just take the next small step.
- Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

- No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
- Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”
- Forgive everyone everything.

- However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
- Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
- Believe in miracles.
- Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
- Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.
- Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
- Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
- If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.
- Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
- Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
- All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
- Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
- The best is yet to come.
- No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.
- Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
- If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
- Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.
Happy New Year guys 🙂 May the lessons we have learned in the past years propel us to an even better 2016!
