Most of the time, when I’m asked about blogging, one of the first questions I’m usually asked is “when do you find the time to blog” I have a full time job which sees me in front of the computer around 12 hours a day every day. I’m involved in research and I write technical papers and research that is really boring (and get this I’ve been doing this for 10 years!).
When I have to take mental breaks or when I just have to get away from the stress of my daily routines, I open a new word document or notepad and I just type away the random thoughts and stories about my family , the things I’ve discovered or how my day went. These random ramblings then become my blog posts. I open manilamommy.com, sign in, paste my daily blabber on the page and then grab photos from my flickr account. After hitting publish, I share the new post via twitter and my facebook page. I welcome these writing breaks because these allow me to speak in my own voice and share my own stories to readers. It certainly is a far cry from the technical papers that I have to write, which just honestly sucks the creative life force out of me.
And now a dilemma — the office where I work in installed a new firewall which essentially blocked everything that I have to access in order to blog. Killjoy diba? But that’s the policy and I have to find a way to get around the system so that I could still have my creative and mental breaks. I feel really disconnected when I’m not blogging, when I’m not on twitter chit chatting with my friends and when I’m not on Facebook reading my friends and relatives updates and sharing my own thoughts too. These breaks allow me to reach out, to learn, and to live more!
My solution? To bring my own laptop to work! Now what I need to find is a reliable broadband connection that will not fail me! So I asked my techy friends and relatives and they all came back with more or less the same answer.
“Get Smart”
The reasons they gave can be summed up into the following: “Reliable”, “Widest Coverage” and “Fast” I got really excited at the possibilities so I went to Smart’s Live More Now page to find out what I should buy.
I want a postpaid plan so that I won’t have to worry about filling up my load. The website offers a great chart that compares all the postpaid broadband services I could choose.
I’m leaning towards the Smart Bro Pocket Wifi.
I can connect up to 5 of my gadgets with this plan. Plus I can amortize the cost of the unit over 24 months and only pay 495 every month for 50 hours of internet use. It seems like a great deal.
Now what I need to do is to find the time to go to the Smart Wireless Center to purchase my Pocket Wifi and also to find out if there are other services that would best fit what I need. Yes I am claiming my breaks back thanks to Smart! I will still be on twitter and on facebook sharing my random thoughts and babbling to friends and family. The new firewall also blocked access to my personal emails but not anymore nyahaha! Most importantly though, I will still be blogging and I will still be able to share my life and the lessons I learned here in manilamommy.com!
“Smart lets you live in the now. With SMART your online life will never be on hold” – Yes! Indeed!
Are you a Smart internet subscriber? Could you let me know which plan and gadget worked best for you? I would love to know and learn from you too!
