What is Folate? If you’ve been pregnant, currently pregnant or trying to be pregnant, your OB-GYNE must have talked to you about folate as an important supplement that you have to take in order to ensure that the life growing inside of you is nourished well.
If we’re going to be technical about it, folate helps in the development of a baby’s neural tubes which helps form the baby’s brain and spinal column. Folate also helps in the complete development of red blood cells. As a daily supplement, folate can assist in the prevention of osteoporosis-related bone fractures as well as aid in the production of skin cells among others.
When I was pregnant with both David and Noah, I took folic acid supplements religiously. I also drank Anmum as a complement to my daily meals. (I need to repeat my request to Anmum to please please bring back the Anmum tetrapacks! When I was pregnant with David I took these packs everywhere and they helped me get my daily Anmum fix!)
Folate can also be found in green leafy vegetables, steak, fruits etc. If you want to know if your folate intake is enough, try out this Anmum’s folate test here: http://www.anmum.com.ph/mommy-circle/folate-test/ I highly suggest that you take the results on your next visit to the OB-GYNE so you can talk about how you could eat for two healthily!
If you haven’t visited Anmum’s new site, go check out http://www.anmum.com.ph/ and join the Anmum Mommy Circle. I was a guest community manager at the Facebook page when I was pregnant with Noah and I have to tell you that the resident OB, Nutrition and parenting experts are all very responsive with questions posted on the page. Although it may take some time for some questions to be replied to, rest assured that’s only because the experts want to be sure that they’re giving you proper information. Of course, you can also get opinions and helpful tips from fellow mommy members as well as get inspirational quotes that you can share with your friends and family members well. If you’re always on twitter, you can follow @AnmumPH to get their latest updates!
Hope to see you at the Anmum Mommy Circle page!
