I’m part of a parenting forum where at least a hundred emails drop in a day. I subscribe to the digest and I only get to back read every few days or so. In the flurry of opening, deleting and replying to the messages, I saw Krissy’s email asking if anyone in the group knew of a Crano-Sacral therapist. I opened her message and there I found out about her daughter, Anya.
Christianne Lucia or Anya has lissencephaly type 1 and for most of her young life has been battling seizures. Her mom, Krissy has opened a blog and is chronicling Anya’s brave battles. Reading through most of the entries and seeing Anya’s pictures, you can’t help but root for Anya and her family. To quote mommy Krissy:
Anya is not to be pitied. Every attack is painful and tiring, every blood extraction is painful and tiring, and there would be more painful & tiring experiences for her. But she has received the gift of life from God and only the select few are called to carry a burden such as hers. We know she has a mission we do not yet understand. God knows she can handle it. We also know that only good can come out of all this so we are always thankful to God. We are blessed to be a part of her life. — all these I have to constantly remind myself.
When I first read Krissy’s email, I was touched by her bravery and her courage. Motherhood is a challenge in itself and Krissy is fighting against all odds for Anya. I am blessed to have opened that email and to have known Anya. Everyday I go to her journal to see how she’s doing. I pray for her and her family every night.
Anya needs help and the following are just some of the treatments and activities that Anya needs to take:
- Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment (available in Manila)
- Cranio-Sacral Therapy (in Hong Kong)
- Advanced Biomechanical Rehabilitation (in Singapore)
- Placenta Stem Cell Treatment (in Hong Kong or Singapore)
How to help
Krissy explains it HERE .They are asking for prayers and are planning several fund raising activities for Anya’s treatments. You can also add Anya up in Facebook. I’ll be linking Anya’s blog in my sidebar to raise awareness for Anya.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this entry and I do hope that Anya becomes a part of you as she has become a part of mine. I think I hug DW a little longer and a little bit tighter now after knowing Anya. We are all blessed, each and every one of us and I hope we never forget that.
