In our trip to Dumaguete over the holidays, BDW and I worried about DW’s bottles. I don’t breastfeed and so I need to always pack DW’s formulas and bottles with us wherever we go. The 3-day trip therefore presented a challenge. We didn’t want to pack all of DW’s bottles because they would mean that we had to bring one more bag for DW’s stuff. We also had to a way to clean and sterilize them at night. We had to ask my lola to set aside a clean caldero for us (we sterilize the old fashioned way) which we know would be a hassle because they were always cooking all the time when we were there.
So, we had to find a way. Luckily, someone we know recommended that we try Avent’s disposable system which used disposable inserts which you could just throw them away when you’ve used them up. We decided to buy one bottle at SM’s Baby Co which already had around 10 free liners. The extra liners were on promo and were on buy 3 take 1. We bought all of them and so we ended up with the Avent Tempo Bottle that came with a number 2 nipple and bpa-free liners and 4 boxes of liners! It was pricey as the bill came close to Php 3,000. Yes ang mahal!! So the question now is, was it worth it?
Let’s look at the bottle. It’s wide and it’s not heavy. A kid DW’s age can still easily grip the bottle.
The nipple and the inserts are securely held by this double hinge in the bottle’s collar.
The inserts are pre-sterilized and are BPA-Free. They also collapse while your kid is drinking milk to prevent air from getting trapped inside the system which would definitely lead to colic (and a seriously grumpy baby). A box of 50 inserts is about Php600. I believe you can reuse the inserts but you can’t sterilize them nor boil them in hot water. But then, you’d be missing the point about a disposable system if you reuse these right?
All you need to do is to drop the liner in, screw the collar on and you’re set!
My verdict? Pricey as it is, this system is a god send when you’re travelling. All we had to do was to wash the nipple, and the bottle in hot water. The inserts are disposable and we just threw them after every use. We have yet to use up the first box of inserts and so we’ve been using them on our weekend trips. We just keep a ziplock bag in our diaper bag to keep the inserts and an extra nipple clean.
When you do decide to buy the system, you might get better deals online (such as Amazon) but all in all this is a great investment if your baby is still feeding from the bottle and you have lots of travelling to do. Thumbs up to Avent!

August 5, 2018 at 5:27 amI have this bottle and it leaks. Have you had any problems with leaks and if so, how do you fix it? Do you mix the milk in as well or mix in a separate bottle then pour into the liner?

March 21, 2015 at 4:27 pmHi! Thank your for your review! We are soon heading on a long trip with our baby and I am desperate to find a disposable system so that I can save space and trouble! My baby uses AVENT, and I have Avent pump also. I was bit dissapointed AVENT does not have just disposable liners, and even here where I live in this country TEMPO is not available yet, so I gotta buy it online. I am guessing these liners do not fit a normal AVENT (classic or natural) bottle? Thanks.

April 9, 2015 at 9:04 pmHi Dannie!
I think the distributor of Avent here has not stocked Tempo in a long time. Some of my friends use Playtex drop-ins and they work just as well naman daw 🙂

January 9, 2012 at 8:24 amHi! I’ve been looking for a spare collar for this one. Do you have any idea where i could find it? I think I still have to wash and sterilized the collar evrytime I used it. My baby feeds every 3 hrs and I think its inconvenient if i have to wash the collar every now and then because I planned to bring just the nipples.
Hope you enlighten me.

January 24, 2011 at 8:29 pmAnother thing I can’t live without when we go overnight wherever is the medela quick clean microwave sterilizer bags. Omg you’re gonna love it!!!
But don’t buy sa rustans, super taga mga 1,200. Sa eBay sellers 500 lang, 5 bags you can use 20 times (or more pa) each. 3 mins lang tapos na ang sterilizing mo! No more bantay sa stove ü when I use my drop ins, I can sterilize about 3 sets of nipples, rings and lids all at the same time.
Go buy bilis!

January 24, 2011 at 7:37 pmI so love this avent item! I am so glad this product already existed when I gave birth. Haha! We’ve had this since Day1. My baby’s so used with Avent nipples that I hesitated on getting her the playtex. However, during my recent visit to the states, I found out they discontinued the tempo liners already so I got the playtex as well. To date, I have about 2 boxes left of the tempo liners. I think playtex is for baby #2 (*hoarder*). =)

January 24, 2011 at 2:20 pmupdate: the exact cost of the avent tempo bottle and 4 boxes of liners we bought is Php2,400 🙂

January 23, 2011 at 11:07 amHi nevs. Yup , also recommend playtex. Bianca is sanay with both playtex and avent. The starter set is only 400, then the liners come out at about 10 pesos each. Plus the playtex liners are more readily available. In the states, my tita bought generic bottle liners at target. Baka kasya ang playtex liners sa avent. I’ll give you some pag nagkita tayo. I think you saw us use the drop INS during laz’ birthday
