I am not high maintenance. My routines are very simple and the products I use are mostly drugstore brands that are easy on the pocket and just as effective.Β An extension of my lazy routine is my wish to have wash and wear hair. I have had this wish since high school. In college, I finally found myΒ hair inspiration: Trinity of The Matrix. I cut my hair short and LOVED it!! Of course as with most girls, nagsawa ako sa short hair and I grew my hair long again. I had bangs cut but my hair was in an eternal pony tail. It was a never ending cycle of short and long hair all in the search of hair that’s easy to manage. Of course along with these hairstyles are the numerous salon treatments (relax, powerdose, hot oil etc) and expensive hair cuts from stylists who all promised that I only need to finger comb my hair when I finish showering (some worked, some didn’t). The elusive wash and wear hair was still….elusive.
Until I read from some Hollywood chismis online site about Brazilian Blowouts. What intrigued me was the promise that my hair will look like nagpapa blow dry ako everyday. “permanent blow dry” they say – which to me sounded like “di mo kailangang suklayin buhok mo lagi” wahaha!!
I’m growing out my hair and its gotten long already. This means uncontrollable frizzy hair that would just go crazy when the weather is super humid. My hair is always up in a ponytail and it was dry already. I didn’t want to go short again so I researched about Brazilian Blowouts. Luckily, a friend was also sharing these posts in her FB feed:
I followed the Brazilian Blowout IG page too (@bblowoutph).Β I asked friends and officemates about the treatment and also about the other options available out there to tame my hair. I read helpful online reviews, some of whom reported that other treatments were a bit harsh and the chemical had fumes pa. I wanted to avoid those treatments because I don’t want to subject my hair to any unnecessary stress. So after all this, I finally took the plungeΒ last Tuesday after work. I went to Freshaire Market! Market!, one of the salons certified by Brazilian Blowout Philippines to have may hair done π (To get the complete list of certified salons click on www.brazilianblowoutph.com) When I called I asked how much the Brazilian Blowout would cost for shoulder length hair, they said it was 4k.Β I readied my card na lang haha π When I got to the salon, I asked the receptionist again if they used the “Brazilian Blowout” brand for the treatment.Β She confirmed and I also saw the items at on display at the salon.
So here’s the step by step of how the Brazilian Blowout was done:
1) My hair was washed and was left wet
2) While my hair was wet, the Brazilian Blowout solution was applied with a brush. The solution was applied only to my hair and did not touch my scalp. During the treatment, my eyes stinged a little, I guess it was the fumes from the solution? It wasn’t bad though and it only lasted for a few seconds.
3) My hair was then blown straight by the stylist
4)Β My hair after the blow dry with the solution still in my hair
5) My hair was ironed after. The stylist was so diligent with this process. She sectioned my hair and ironed each section carefully. She caught all my baby hair too and ironed them straight.
6) After this step.Β We waited for my head to cool off (literally) because it was hot from all the blow drying and the ironing.
This was my hair after the ironing. One thing I noticed was that throughout the process, my hair felt really light. The solution used on me did not feel heavy nor sticky. It also had a light scent. I kept touching my hair too and my hair was not all stuck together. It felt really soft!
7) When my hair has cooled down, they washed everything out again (gasp!) I wondered if washing out the solution would mean that it won’t be as effective but there was also a sense of relief knowing that the chemicals in my hair were washed off too.
8)Β After washing the Acai Daily Smoothing Serum was applied on my hair. Ang bango nya!! And this serum was really light too.
9) Blow drying resumed
10) Then the spray shine was spritzed on my hair. Again ang bango nya and when I asked how much it was, it was almost 2k haha! It was half the cost of my treatment! I do love though that Freshaire used most of the Brazilian Blowout line on me.
11) After almost 2 hours I was FINISHED!! Smooth, shiny hair achieved!
The true test naman really is the day after. The stylist and receptionist told me I could wash my hair again as soon as I get home or when I wake up in the morning. Well di ko sila sinunod haha because my hair was washed so many times already aaaaand I didn’t need to wash my hair because I woke up with hair that was not frizzy at all!! I just brushed my hair a few times and voila!
The day after syempre nag shampoo na ako using regular shampoo. I did not buy any special shampoo or conditioner. I just used what I had at home. I also did not blow dry my hair. I jumped into the car with my hair wet. Dahil sa traffic, my hair was already dry when we got to Makati. I just brushed my hair a few times. IΒ was so happy that it still turned out neat!
My hair is frizz free. It was truly wash and wear!! Nahanap ko na talaga yung treatment for me!!
The cost for the treatment was exactly Php4,090. The treatment is expected to last 12 weeks so it was just like getting a salon treatment worth 1k every 4 weeks. Freshaire was also very professional, efficient and quick with the entire process. Isa lang comment ko sa kanila, I hope they change their towels na because the ones used on me were discolored and had already seen better days haha!
Would I recommend the Brazilian Blowout to friends? I’ve already have! This is really perfect for us busy gals who have no time to style nor fix their hair during the day.Β This is also perfect for women like me who are so clueless about fixing their hair. The fact that my hair can look neat and frizz-free all throughout the day even after walking around in Makati is so worth it. I have been the butt of jokes though kasi di na daw nila ako makilala haha. But I take it all in stride, I flip my hair and go about my day! Yahoo!!

April 27, 2017 at 7:11 pmHi I really appreciate that you shared your experience with BB. I am thinking of getting one myself when I go to mla. But the thing is I have wavy/ kind of curly hair. I like the shape of my hair but I have a really hard time managing the frizz. Do you think this treatment can get rid of the frizz but keep the curls or waves of my hair? Thanks!
neva says
May 4, 2017 at 10:31 pmhi mary – yep this is perfect for frizzy hair! it makes the waves manageable without making your hair stick straight π

January 13, 2017 at 8:45 amHi,
I am planning to have a Brazilian blow out too, but i was wondering if it is bagay to me since i have a chubby face.
i am thinking kasi dati to have a rebond, e sabi nila lalaki daw lalo yung mukha ko, which is ayokong mangyari, my friends told me to have a brazilian blow out.
since you have an experience na po, tingin niyo po ba mas applicable sya sa mga chubby?
thanks π
neva says
January 14, 2017 at 11:42 pmhi marielle – the brazilian blowout kasi is not super straight like rebond, may konting body pa rin sya. it’s similar to when you go to a salon to have your hair blown dry. di sya stick straight. i suggest you talk to your hairstylist or a good friend so you could get the best recommendation if this treatment is for you or not π good luck!

September 7, 2017 at 9:53 amHi Neva,
Based on my experience sa CUT Salon, Brazilian Blowout and Brazilian Rebond ay magkakaiba and also differs in prices…I was wondering kasi I opted for brazilian blowout at first, tapos yunf hair ko mahaba ang buhaghag from a year ago pa narebond….ayaw sana nila i brazilian blowout kasi dapat daw brazilian rebond but i insisted….yun nga ang proseso ay iba parang keratin treatment lang at bumalik agad sa dati ang buhok ko walang pagkakaiba….
Then 3 months after bumalik ako and nagpa brazilian rebond naman, yun, katulad na ng proseso na binanggit mo at na traightened yung hair ko pero yung growth nya bumabalik pa rin yung original na wavy….
I was just wondering ano ba pagkakaiba ng brazilian blowout at brazilian rebond….
Thank you….
neva says
September 29, 2017 at 9:52 pmim not sure po what brazilian rebond is because i haven’t tried it. for certified salons po that does brazilian blowouts you can check this link: http://brazilianblowout.ph/salon-locator/

October 6, 2016 at 9:37 pmHi, I was inspired to get this treatment so I went to Freshaire to seek for consultation but was disappointed that my hair daw would have big curls if I have a Brazilian blowout. Their recommendation is hair relax. My hair is curly and I never had straightening treatment on my hair. A lot would love the curls on my hair even the consultant in Freshaire says that the curls are really nice but I was explaining that because I had it tied up so it is not buhaghag but if I am already out and expose it long untied it is unbearable. So is Brazilian blow out not really for curly hairs? π
neva says
October 7, 2016 at 6:00 pmHi Juny – I found a blog that could probably http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/curl-products/i-did-a-brazilian-blowout/?page=3 maybe this could help you decide whether to go through with the treatment or not π there are other salons din naman that offer brazilian blowout. August 2, 2016 at 11:43 amHi Neva,
As the weeks went by after the treatment, did your hair just begin to naturally go back to its wavy state? Was it like the chemicals were being washed off over time? No awkward growth at the top of your head where it was wavy and everything else was straight?
I’ve been thinking about doing this to my thick and rather wavy hair, but am worried it will be like a rebonding job – where after 6months or so, the rest of your hair is straight but the top of your head has the natural, wavy and unruly hair growing out. (It really looks awkward and is a turn-off to me).
Your input would be much appreciated xx
neva says
August 3, 2016 at 12:16 pmhi cath, my hair just went back to being a bit wavy then gradually to its natural state over time. there’s actually no awkward stage. i keep it manageable by using hair oil lang. the blowdry then will not make your hair stick straight (no walis effect) effect nya talaga is like you went to the salon to have your hair blowdried with a little bit of body π

July 22, 2016 at 1:06 amHi Miss Neva! I’ve had a history of getting my hair an xtenso treatment years ago and now my hair is back to its normal slightly frizzy and damaged hair. I used to have that annoying crease on my head (y’know the one where the roots look wavy and the rest of the hair is brittle and straight. Horrible, just horrible).
It’s almost been a year since you’ve had the blow out, and I was wondering how your hair looks like now? Is it still smooth and soft? Does it have that annoying crease? Can’t wait to hear from you! <3
neva says
July 23, 2016 at 8:14 pmHi Kai!! I’m happy to report that my hair is fine, I’ve actually had another brazilian blowout again π my hair is a bit dry but I just use a deep conditioning mask from human nature and gugo serum from zen nutrients to keep it soft and frizz free. low maintenance lang talaga ang magpa brazilian as long as you actually get the legit one like the one i described here. I actually had my hair done at shangri-la sa bowman bear salon (sa may food court). 4,500 for my almost shoulder length hair na π

November 14, 2015 at 9:33 pmHi! I’m thinking of getting a Brazilian Blowout… it’s been a few months since you had yours, how is it now? Did your hair simply grow out while the treated hair remained the same or did your hair simply begin to return to the way it used to be all over?
I have always had rebonding done and after six months I have curly root hair while the rest of it is super straight and dry. lol Terrible, right?!
Some say that your hair gets better the more Brazilian Blowouts you have… but others say it ruins your hair, just like any other chemical treatment. What do you think? Or rather, what have you noticed with your own hair?
My rebonding cost about 8,000 so the price for this new treatment sounds good to me! (Sounds better to my husband haha!)
Would really appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

November 16, 2015 at 4:54 pmHi Sofia! Thanks so much for the comment. I’ve trimmed and colored my hair a month ago but it’s still manageable and buhahag free although it’s not as straight na.
