A working mom like me needs to budget a lot of things — including when to take leaves. Sometimes there are days where I just need to be at home with the kids — minsan the yaya is on vacation, or we have a scheduled PTC or one of the boys is sick and I need to monitor them — the list is endless. Last week, Dan and I had to stay home because we were in between family drivers and we didn’t want David to miss his summer classes and for Noah to miss his therapies.
For these instances, I am thankful that my boss allows me to work from home. Telecommuting is a blessing because I get to be with the kids, do my job AND save my leaves so that I can use my VL for when we really go on vacation.
But I can’t work from home without a reliable internet connection. We’ve been PLDT subscribers since the 1990s and we’ve never switched. The service has always been reliable in our area and this gives me the confidence to ask my boss when I need to work from home. My boss also knows that when I work from home that I am able to perform my usual tasks without any interruptions.
I’m actually working from home today. I just replied to a client while at the same time, I drafted this post too. Being able to stay home today allowed me to go to David’s swim class and see how much he has improved (ang galing na nya!). I was able to spend time with Noah to play with him before he went to his summer class. So even if I was busy with work today, I was still able to be present with and for the kids. Ang sarap ng feeling!
The flexibility of telecommuting is such a big help for working moms but this can only happen with a reliable provider. As a long time subscriber of PLDT myDSL, I can be the mom that I need to be and be with the kids whenever they need me. So thank you PLDT for never ever conking out whenever I have to work from home 🙂 I can’t wait when we upgrade to Fibr….pero baka mawili na ako and hindi na ako pumasok talaga sa office haha!
