Baking is one of the things that I love doing and I always try to find time to do it. I’ve done cakes and brownies but not cookies as I feel they’re a different league altogether. That changed though when my brother Ej and his wife Ginger of manilareviews brought home goodies from The Cookie Jar to review and one of them was this big jug of something something which turned out be cookie mix!!
Cranberry Walnut Cookie Mix to be exact π
mmm…layers and layers of goodness…
Here’s how you bake Cranberry Walnut Cookies from scratch *wink*
Preheat the oven to 150C.
Cream together a block of softened butter with one large egg, essentially just mixing them both until the texture becomes very creamy. DW helped with the mixing and was amazed at how the butter stuck to the spatula haha!
Add the cookie mix and mix everything with your hands! This part is fuuuun!
Place large dollops of the dough onto greased cookie sheets.
The total baking time for my batch was about 30 minutes but I feel it’s going to be lesser if you’d do smaller cookies.
I was crossing my fingers throughout the entire time because I thought my cookies wouldn’t bake. The instruction card said 8-10 minutes but after 10 minutes my cookies were still raw! Turns out that I didn’t preheat the oven enough and yes I made such really large cookies so the baking time had to adjust π
The mix is enough for two trays of cookies as large as these guys (they’re about the size of a drink coaster)
The DW’s loved the cookies and BDW even brought a container full of cookies to the office (but then he decided to keep it in the car so that he could munch on them while driving hehe)
The cookies are most and chewy with the right amount of crunch. I loved that the cookie mix was pre-measured so all I needed to do was work on the butter, the egg and the dough π A big plus for me is the generous amount of cranberries thrown in the mix as I looove cranberries (they’re great antioxidants too!)
The jar was lovely too and I imagine it being a great hostess gift or a housewarming present!
The Cranberry Walnut mix is Php260 . The other cookie mixes are Chocolate Chip, Crispy Chocolate, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, and Triple Chocolate and are sold for Php 220 each. I’m going to order the oatmeal choco chip soon and bake another fresh batch for the DWs π
You can order the cookie mixes from The Cookie Jar. Their online store is at http://thecookiejarph.multiply.com/ . They can be reached at: 9643947 or 0917-8301965, or email thecookiejarph@yahoo.com.
