I am always pulled towards companies who are not just focused on the bottom line but more importantly are focused on helping their communities become productive and self-reliant. Domesticity is one such company. I only knew about their work with Gawad Kalinga recently but I have been a long time fan because of their chic house ware made from pandan and other indigenous Philippine materials.
Domesticity began as a small business on 2002 of April. In the 11 years that they have been in operations the company has not only grown in size and market but they have also channeled their efforts to be the main support to all on-going programs of the Gawad Kalinga San Agustin Legacy Village in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental. The company now employs 20 people from the GK Village providing them with skills and a sustainable livelihood.
Now the company has created this short video about the community that Domesticity supports. It is amazing how Gawad Kalinga has created such wonderful villages such as San Agustin and how companies like Domesticity have provided sustainable livelihood to the village’s sons and daughters.
This Christmas I will buy local and I will buy from companies that provide our fellow Pinoys work that they are proud of.
Thank you Domesticity for allowing me to share your video! Expect my orders very soon!
