During Expo Mom, I met Che who was our kapitbahay (kapit booth?) at the Expo. She came up to me and introduced herself. As it turns out Che and I were batchmates at Weddings@Work and we were both Mimi and Karl clients!! I asked her what she was selling because BDW and I thought their displays were mini-sofas for kids! Che told me that she was selling footrests! The footrests called Pedipods helped Che during her pregnancy because she always had to rest and keep her feet up whenever she could.
In Che’s own words:
The footrests were designed by my Mom when I got pregnant. I had difficulty conceiving kasi. We got married in 2007 and tried to get pregnant in early 2008. That’s when we discovered I had hyperthyroidism. I had a total thyroidectomy in November 2008 and after that my system just went haywire. I wasn’t getting my period so it meant that I wasn’t ovulating. So I had to have a work up. After 4 months on Clomid God finally answered our prayers and I was pregnant. So since it was so difficult to conceive, my Mom said I had to relax as much as I can coz you don’t know how ‘kapit’ the baby is. So she designed the footrest and had it made for me to help me relax and de-stress. That is the template for the PediPod.
The Pedipods really are a labor of love. Che’s mom created a product for her daughter and now Che is ready to share the love with everyone!
The Pedipods retail for only Php 750. I checked them out myself and the footrests are well-made and are really “siksik” with padding so you won’t worry about them deflating after just a month’s use. I also love that you can put these anywhere – on the bed, on the couch and so you won’t have to worry about propping up pillows and fluffing them every so often so that they’d keep their height and shape! BDW also told Che that these footrests would be perfect for home service pedicures too!
Che also sells nursing pillows! As a breastfeeding mom, Che knows that nursing pillows are a big help and so she created NurserPods!
Che’s NurserPods are huge! They were so unlike the sorry nursing pillow I bought from a department store that deflated after a month. The nursing pillows are also just Php 750. The nursing pillows come with changeable covers and the pillow itself has a cover that you can change and wash as well.
The Pedipods and NurserPods sold well at the Expo and I saw preggy moms breathing a sigh of relief while listening to Che explain to them what her stuff is about and how they came about. These items make great baby shower gifts as these would last well after the pregnancy.
