I believe in me-time. I believe in treating myself to something indulgent once in a while because heck I deserve it! “Me-time” nowadays involves me locking myself in our bathroom for 30 minutes or so to escape. Sometimes I do my nails or I put a facial mask on. Sometimes I take a really long hot shower and use scrubs and oils that were given to me last Christmas and that I keep in a shelf just for these moments. It helps me to feel good even if it means that by the time I get out of the bathroom the DWs are already snoring in unison. I have a awfully stressful day job and I try to melt the stress away whenever I could. (Either that or I eat my stress away but this is healthier haha)
So when the fabulous Martine of DaintyMom arranged a getaway at Nurture Spa. I said YES! I didn’t even look at the date yet but I just said YES!! I took a leave of absence (filing that VL felt so gooood) and on March 23 I jumped into a van with Jen (of Next9M and who blogs here) Michelle (My Mom Friday), Martine and Eli of (Painter’s Wife) (with her mom and her cutie baby B) on our journey of bliss. It was my first time at Nurture Spa and I have friends that swear by the magical healing wonders of the place and as soon as stepped into the place it’s easy to find out why.
The place is serene. In my dayjob I scream “Serenity now!!” in my head about a couple of times a day. This place is serenity realized. It’s peaceful and quiet and oh my god is that fresh air I smell?!
The gang was welcomed by music. The staff was playing bamboo local percussion instruments when we arrived. We were also served with refreshing basil tea. It was delicious and delightful. It was a perfect welcome.
The Organic Garden
Next we went to the spa’s organic garden where we picked fresh lettuce and veggies. I loved how crisp and green the veggies are. Because we are all city girls though, none of us had any idea how to harvest veggies. The spa harvests all its own veggies which they not only use for their dishes and teas but also for their treatments. The spa tries to be as sustainable and eco-friendly as they can.
If you want to, you can actually pick your own veggies which will be used for your meals. Being city girls, none of us had the guts to harvest any of the veggies. Eli’s mom took care of that though hehe. This would be a cool experience for young kids though and they’d probably love the idea of harvesting their own food!
The Events Pavilion
This is where we had our meals while we stayed at the spa. Nurture Spa hosted 20 weddings last year and the reception is done at the pavilion which can comfortably seat up to 250 people! The space is wide and airy and has drapes and big capiz lights dangling from the ceiling.
Rooms For Rent
You can book rooms at the spa and stay a night or two. My personal favorite are these authentic ifugao huts!! I took a peek inside and oh-la-la look at the bed! If you’re planning a getaway with the hubby I highly suggest that you book the huts!
The huts however do not have air conditioning. So be warned. But then again you are in Tagaytay but I have a feeling that if you want privacy then you can book these rooms instead:
That’s Dainty Mom as Dirty Mom hahaha 😀 It was so funny how we were all thinking out loud about bringing our hubbies and going on a mini-honeymoon while we were checking out the rooms. Hmmmm.
The Spa also has a pool and gardens that you can lose yourself in. It also has the Dulang restaurant which overlooks the gardens and the pools of Nurture Spa. You can also have your meals in a much more intimate setting at the resto than the pavilion.
Treatments
The highlight of the trip of course are the treatments but before that we all underwent a procedure known as the DMS health scan. It’s a computerized scan of your health and well-being which would allow the spa to customize wellness packages for you. It’s a quick scan and the results were made available to us right away.
After that the Spa’s in-house yoga instructor taught us breathing exercises that we could use to de-stress and relax. Then I was called by the Spa manager to let me know that my treatments are ready! I went for the all natural facial and foot spa. I couldn’t go for a massage because of medical reasons but that was fine by me.
My treatments were done outside in this little hut which I had all to myself.
IT. WAS. BLISS.
All-natural and organic products from Ilog Maria and their garden were used on my face and feet. Gentle music wafted through the air while I was being gently massaged. It was amazing. Ayoko syang matapos!!! Ayaw!!.
Aaaaah!!
Soon thereafter I was joined by Jenn, then Michelle. We all agreed how great of Nurture Spa is. I love how they have homeopathic doctors in the area too who could guide you should you choose the all-natural path to improving your well-being.
Of course after our treatments, we had…
FOOD. As if the treatments weren’t indulgent enough, we had a really delicious lunch at the events pavilion.
We all ordered different dishes from Dulang restaurang. I ordered lamb adobo which was absolutely delicious. To cap off our meals, we had a sampler of raw dishes and truffles made of raw, vegan ingredients.
These little delightful balls had cocoa powder, coconut, raisins and dates. They were not processed and they were all raw. They were surprisingly very delicious. I finished probably around 4-5 of them truffles.
At that point. Ayoko na talaga umuwi. I was with awesome good company in a really wonderful place. We were all in agreement that a day trip is not enough if you really want the complete experience of the Nurture Spa’s health and wellness packages. These packages mind you are well known and Nurture Spa has been named one of the 28 Most Relaxing Spas in Asia by CNN Go (June 2010) and one of the Top Seven Spas of the Philippines by Asia Spa Magazine (May-June 2010 issue) , a Hongkong based luxury magazine.
The Spa also offers not just their own special concoctions of oils and treatments (especially done by the owner who is a doctor in Organic Chemistry) but also international facial and spa brands: BIODROGA and ALGOTHERM. The health and wellness packages of the spa include programs on detoxification, weight reduction, anti-ageing and chronic disease management. The staff at the spa are also all professionally trained. 6 full time staff who are internationally certified by CIBTAC, UK are at the spa at all times. Their on-call therapists are trained for a minimum of 2 months to the highest standards by internationally licensed trainers. My therapist also informed me that one therapist is assigned to one guest all throughout their stay. They’re trained in all the treatments so you have one person who’ll really take care of you during your stay.
Nurture Spa is really perfect for a Mother’s Day Getaway or if you’re just up for your own sweet escape either alone or with your hubby. Book a hut or room and a couple’s massage and let Nature (Spa) take its own sweet course.
Thank you so much again Martine for organizing the trip and to Ms. Cathy Turvill, owner of the Nurture Spa for the lovely lovely treat!
