I do hope that you indulge me with this one. I turn a year older right away when the New Year is still “new”. So, does this mean that a new year should equal a new life? Naah, I guess it’s better if the New Year signals a better life — for everyone!**
**This post was written before that whole Vasovaga Syncope fiasco* — dang if I let this ruin my birthday month!
Kinda hard to imagine that I just turned 32. Is that old? I did feel my left knee feeling a bit sore which BDW had a good laugh about. How does old feel like anyway?
I woke up last Friday morning to my family (we still live with my parents) knocking at my door and singing happy birthday. It has always been this way ever since my brothers and I were kids. Sometimes the knocking and singing comes at 12 am when my parents see that our lights are still on. I was on birthday leave that day and was determined to just do nothing and rest. I was lucky too since January is a slow month at the office and thankfully I didn’t have any urgent emails to answer. The bane of the BBerry, I tell ya.
With DW, his Yaya and my mom in tow, we set off for the nearest mall to do nothing. My mom however was determined to buy me dresses. Christmas and my birthday are two occasions where my mom gives me presents that hint at the fact that she did give birth to a girl. I pretty much gave up on dresses when I was two years old and have always loved jeans ever since. But I do love skirts and dresses that are unique and not frou-frou. So, I got three dresses from Iora and a discount card for life to boot! Thanks mom (and dad!) haha.
DW had a field day too and enjoyed walking around the mall, saluting all the security guards that we met. We loved it! I was pointing out security guards to DW all day haha. My agenda for that day really was to go to mothercare, which was having it’s big sale and bought socks and shoes for DW. Their strollers were on sale too but I had to think if it was worth buying an umbrella stroller for DW given that this boy does not want to sit in his stroller EVER. He likes to walk and if he gets tired he wants to be carried. I tried sitting him down in a stroller I found at the store but DW was not having it hahaha. So mukhang sayang lang. However fellow moms, if you need to restock your kid’s wardrobe, do consider mothercare when you go shopping this month.
When we got home, I changed into one of my new dresses because BDW and I had a date. BDW reserved a table at Mamou where I had the second best steak ever!! ( I still maintain that the best steak I had was at Amanpulo which had truffle butter!) We ordered the twin steak which was good for 3-4 people. *burp* We finished the plate right away.Grabe, walang usapan. Galit-galit haha 😀 I’ve been wanting to try Mamou for the longest time and I’m so glad that I finally got to try it with BDW. After the dinner, it’s back to the house for us. 10 pm, tapos ang gimik!! haha 😀
Saturday started out the same way as Friday. Everyone was at home,my sister-in-law had a Boys Over Flowers marathon to the dismay of her hubby, my brother. We were waiting for 6 pm to roll in because by then we had to leave because we had reserved a table at Aubergine where we had the best dinner ever!! The staff, the service and the food were top notch. I even got a free birthday cake and it was delicious! DW got so excited when the waitstaff came over to our table and gave me the cake (with matching Happy Birthday sing-along haha). My boy definitely has a sweet tooth.
Sunday was family day and we drove over to Tahanan, armed with Estrel’s caramel cake for another day of eating. The day was spent with family. DW played with his Kuya Johann and both got haircuts in the afternoon. It was a lazy Sunday and my gulay, birthday weekends don’t get any better than that 🙂
So there, another year done and another year to embrace. I do hope that you stay with me as I forge on! Let’s all have fun together alright?? More posts, more reviews, more fun stuff from manilamommy.com!

January 25, 2010 at 11:33 amoh my goodness – thanks for the Mothercare tip! Until when are they on sale?
David doesn’t use his stroller too??? Ahaaay same thing with Laz! Kami rin ni Pao, nag-contemplate on an umbrella stroller for a bit – figuring, we’d need one, especially for travel – but so worried because the boy won’t stay put!
And wow, sulit pala talaga steaks sa Mamou! Been waiting for an opportunity to try it there!
2nd haircut na ni David? Good job!!! Hairy na, yiheee! (He looks so cuuuuute in the picture! And still with sideswept bangs, I see!)
P.S. Parang dumami aches and pains when we hit 30 noh? Durn!

@Maqui – Thank you 🙂 We buy most of DW’s clothes at Greenhills, but for socks we buy them at mothercare and always on sale. Sulit sa Greenhills!
@Trixie – Thank you!
@Anna – My ate and moms with older kids told us that we need a light stroller. DW likes to walk now but he will get tired of it and eventually would just like to be pushed around in a stroller like most of the older kids 😛 i think mothercare is still on sale 🙂

January 25, 2010 at 7:32 amneva, where do you buy clothes for DW aside from mothercare? I find it frustrating that there arent as many cute clothes for little boys as there are for girls.
