I wonder how fast food delivery was invented. Was it in a board meeting with CEO and executive directors all huddled across a mahogany desk thinking about how to make more money? Or was it a harried mudrabelles like me who needed food but can’t cook to save her life but she can’t go out of the house so she pleaded PLEADED to her favorite resto to bring food to her house.
Or maybe the Chinese invented it with their clever take out boxes.
Whoever made delivery possible gets my respect because as a working mom who has no time to cook, delivery is such a great convenience. It has also been a lifesaver for super busy days at the office where we can’t even go out to buy food. Picking up the phone and ordering by teams has been a practice where I work and we eat by our workstations to beat deadlines.
So it was such a treat when Quick Delivery asked me if I wanted to try their service. I have always been curious about Quick Delivery because I see their numbers in my favorite restaurants so I was really grateful for the opportunity.
Quick Delivery gave me 2 Gift Certificates to try out their service. I used one GC to call up Savor Park Café in Salcedo Village for work day lunch. So on one random day, I called Quick Delivery and ordered the following from the resto (view the complete menu here)
The Call
I called Quick Delivery at 10:40 and the call was picked by a friendly agent named Dan. Dan processed my orders and also informed of the 10% delivery charge. He also told me that they were already receiving a large volume of calls and since it was almost 11, lunch time deliveries are already at its peak so the expected arrival of our order would take 2 hours max. I was ok with the wait given that I take my lunch at around 12:30-1 anyway.
So we waited and fortunately the food was delivered within the 2 hour window at 12:30 😀 solb!!
Me, Dan and Vic (our friend form the office) shared a hearty lunch consisting of Savor Bagnet for sharing, Gising Gising, Shrimp Ala Pobre, Gising-Gising and three cans of soda.
I used the second GC to order Sunday Dinner from Figaro. It was the same swift service that I experienced with my first call in Makati. Consistency is key in the service industry! The agent was friendly, repeated the orders and informed us of the delivery time. I called around 5:30 already which was already nearing peak dinner delivery times so the 2 hour window was discussed with me again (Figaro’s full menu can be viewed here)
We had 3 orders of Beef Tapa Supreme, Pasta A Ala Carlo, Pasta Carbonara, 3 pcs each of the Mexicali and Five Cheeses Pizza, and Chicken A La Kiev.
One thing that amazed me and Dan is that the coffee we ordered with the food was still hot when it delivered to us!! The food of course was delicious. We ordered extra food too that we can take to the office too (pang baon!! Heehee)
Wrapping it Up
All in all, Quick Delivery is very convenient and a handy service to have. When I needed to see the menus I just went to their website: http://quickdelivery.ph/ One thing that I wish the site has was a quick search function for restos. There’s currently no way for me to search for a specific restaurant in the site so I had to go through several filters first before scrolling down a long list to get to the menu that I want to see.
One thing to commend on this though is that their filters are very specific. You can drill down on type of cuisine and locations are categorized into very specific areas.
One thing to remember also when ordering is the delivery charge and out of zone charge. The delivery charge is 10% and the out of zone charge starts at 100. So if you’re ordering with a fixed budget, make sure that you ask about these two charges so that you can figure out how much to pay. Their friendly agents will advise you on these charges and they can recommend another establishment within your area should you want to order from one that is not “out of zone”.
Another good thing about Quick Delivery is this: The email menu guide. It’s a menu that lists all restos in your specific delivery area. I tried it and it was really good! We have a ton of flyers on our fridge for the restos that have take-out and delivery so this guide just puts them all in one file! I printed out one for our area and I am keeping it near our landline at home.
Another thing to remember is that some restos have one menu across all branches so even if you’re looking for Figaro Tomas Morato but the menu online is for Figaro Glorietta — ok lang yun 😉
So how about you? Would you want to try out Quick Delivery too? I will be giving away Quick Delivery GCs worth Php 1,ooo each to 3 lucky readers soon starting 1 July 2014 😀 I will do the contest in another post but one thing I would want you to answer is where would you spend the GC?

Mom and Tina’s for the cake probably, or Chocolat. (My heart pounds just thinking about the sugar rush from the cakes :D) Hassan Kebabs for a tried-and-tested dinner, because partner and I have always enjoyed having dinner and drinks there. *fingers crossed for the raffle* 🙂
