Last year David found a new obsession. It’s two words and it takes place a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
David got into Star Wars because Dan bought a Lego Star Wars game for his iPad. David started playing with the game and his interest in the movies grew from there. He started watching episodes 4, 5 and 6 at home and Dan was able to borrow the episodes 1-3 from his friend. We got David light saber which he constantly used while going on pretend Jedi missions. He fancies himself as Obi Wan or sometimes as a padawan who is almost a Jedi Master! I really encouraged this interest because it gave his imagination such a jolt!
His new found interest also gave us more things to talk about and we get to share with David our own experiences growing up with this movie franchise. I myself am a big fan of the movies. The first movie that I watched in a theater was Empire Strikes Back. My dad told me that when Han Solo was frozen in carbonite, I stood up on my seat and shouted “PAKAWALAN NYO AKO” Apparently I was speaking for Han then.
David also got into Lego because of Star Wars which was again another win because bricks are a great way to develop his creativity, fine motor skills, problem solving skills and cognitive skills since he needs to follow and understand the instructions to create all his Lego Star Wars toys. Aside from that, David also started drawing so much more than he used to. He drew tons of maps and plans of his Jedi missions.
I also love that Star Wars is a relatively wholesome movie that depicts the battle between the good and evil and as a parent, I appreciate that these young Padawans, even if they tend to be smart alecks do listen to their masters.
So when Smart Communications, (a manilamommy.com blog sponsor) recently announced that it partnered with the Walt Disney Company, it only meant one thing more Star Wars!! Disney Interactive, the digital arm of The Walt Disney Company will be offering its entire portfolio (Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucas Film content!) to Smart subscribers at affordable prices . You know what makes this even better? We can use our postpaid bill or prepaid credits to purchase so there is no need for credit cards. Do you know how much the games cost? Php20!! This partnership is a first in the Philippines too and is just one more way for Smart to bring great content and online experience through their #SmartInternetForAll campaign.
I’ve been checking online via http://smart.com.ph/disney to see what’s available now and so far I am liking what I see and the price the games are being offered. I actually have seen some of the games that we’ve downloaded before but are now being offered at a much cheaper price huhu. For now now I am holding out for the Star Wars games and e-books for my little padawan.
May the force be with you!!
