Noah was born 6 weeks early. He weighed 3 lbs. 3 ounces and was in the NICU of St. Luke’s Hospital QC from Sept. 14 to Oct. 19. Noah was discharged when he reached 4 lbs. His doctors deemed that he was big enough and heavy enough to be taken home. I remember his neonatologist telling me na “madali na syang hawakan at paliguan” also the doc told me that preemies grew better when they were sent home.
I remember getting that call from Noah’s doctor and her telling me that Noah will be coming home in a few days. Because his birth was so unexpected, I panicked. Noah was so teeny tiny and the clothes I have at home are all for bigger newborns plus a few hand-me-downs from David. I remember that moment of panic, of rushing to a nearby store to buy clothes that I know will not fit my baby but I had to make do with what was available. I remember paying for the clothes with shaking hands and going home teary eyed because how on earth will a 4 lb baby fit into clothes meant for newborns at least a pound heavier?
Our little bub looked even tinier because his clothes were too big. So when that time came when I had to set aside his tie-sides because he’s outgrown them, I cried. It was another chapter closed and we were moving forward. He can finally fit into his onesies. I think it took us two months before he wore his first onesie and at that time he just reached 6 lbs. I celebrated when he finally fit into one. It was a milestone and to me it meant that Noah was thriving.
So when Gerry of Numa contacted me about St. Patrick’s newest project. I said yes right away. They’re helping out the preemie babies of Fabella hospital and they’ve opened it up to other moms as well. You can choose to buy the St. Patrick Preemie Care Package below for Php 799.95 (discounted price) which consists of the following:
The clothes are all organic. The set will be donated in your name and you will receive a pic of the baby who has received your generous donation.
Cash donations are also accepted and will be used to buy a set. Moms who made cash donations will also be sent a photo of the recipient of their gift.
St. Patrick has generously donated a set in Noah’s name and I am buying another one so I could donate under David’s name naman. The Fabella babies and their mommies need all the love we can give them so they could both thrive and survive. For the mommies a gift of clothes for their newborns will certainly lift their spirits.
