Toni of WifelySteps and I have been doing a sticker exchange on behalf of our little boys. When I found out that T was into stickers too (Toni wrote about T’s sticker happiness here) I dusted off this post on DW’s own sticker happiness. It’s been in my draft folder for a long time reason and Toni’s post finally brought this one out!
DW is crazy about stickers. His drawers and cabinets are now peppered with an assortment of shapes, animals and letters all stuck happily and haphazardly by him. On a good day he would’ve stuck some of those stickers on his cheeks and neck too.
His first set of stickers was this booklet of 1,260 motivational stickers. It’s actually for his cousin who was learning how to write but we all figured that it was more fun to stick stickers on random body parts and furniture than to practice writing As and Bs (and that’s how you become the favorite tita har har har)
Some ended up at the floor and the cabinet
I suggested to Toni that maybe T and DW could do a sticker swap kinda like the stationery exchanges I had when I was a kid. Toni and I exchanged a few DMs via twitter and soon after, DW and I got our first sticker!!
The sticker exchange bought the sticker happiness to a whole new level. DW would always rip the packaging excitedly and would go on a sticking spree within 30 minutes. He would then take a step back and admire his work!
Here’s how it usually goes:
Uy a package!! (I apologize for our mismatched bed. No, we don’t change the sheets in the dark)
YAAAAY!!
Stick ’em good!
Thank you Tita Toni and T!!! Stickers rock!!
I really hope the boys don’t outgrow the sticker exchanges yet. I have to admit that the buying and sending of the stickers is just as exciting for me as it is for DW. I’ve only talked to Toni via our blogs and twitter and so receiving the mail just brings the connection closer. Even after all the different ways technology has made it possible for everyone to connect, I’m still absolutely thrilled at getting actual mail (bills not included of course). Receiving something the old way is just darn charming. It goes against the fast exchanges on twitter and facebook so snail mail requires a bit of a higher EQ. Waiting is practially lost in today’s “iwantthatnowna” culture. I’ve easily adopted that trait to be honest so it’s great to have one activity in my life (and DW’s) that takes its sweet time.
I adore this whole sticker exchange thing going on between Toni, T, myself and DW so I want to ask if there are any of you out there who’d want to do sticker exchanges with me and DW? There are no requirements and no rules, just fun stickers for our little kids 😀 If you want to join, just comment so that I can email you and figure out something out! Or you can tweet me @manilamommy

August 12, 2011 at 10:34 pmI love this! Great for the boys to be “trading” stickers this way 🙂 I also remember my sticker and stationary swaps in my younger years — putting more value to the scented statio and scratch ‘n sniff variety!
