- I was a big nerd with wavy hair who wore really thick glasses and had a mouth full of braces (with neon green elastics haha)
- For any formal events in school, I’d be in a dress by Camp Beverly Hills and I’d wear my bulldog shoes with them (because I can’t fit in Doc Martens hahaha)
- My radio dial was turned to the right most station in my big boombox (Long live NU 107!)
- My room was plastered with posters of GNR, Metallica and all other rock bands. My mom begged me to tear them down because “mukha silang mga satanista!”
- My cash allowance was just 100 a week! Which means that when these guys came to Manila then, I would’ve had to beg my mom to let me gooooooo (“mommy di sila satanista!!”)
STP!!!!
I grew up in the 1990s and lived and breathed the music of that generation. My ipod still cranks out the guitar-driven music of that age and I still update my 1990s playlist every now and then. Music is a big part of me and BDW — it was our love of music which we shared via mp3s and even mixtapes when we were dating (yes as in cassette tapes haha) — that drew us closer.
Watching STP was a no-brainer. It was so good to hear the music I grew up live, raw and just really awesome. The guys, most especially Weiland, have weathered a lot but their music is just as strong. When I first heard the opening riff of Crackerman, I almost peed in my pants. BDW promptly lost his voice after the concert. Kids of our generation filled Araneta. Some came straight from the office but rocked the night away in their polo barongs haha. I had a tall coffee myself before the concert because I was so sleepy already haha 😀
Thanks so much STP for coming and thank you Ovation Productions for bringing them here (yep the same guys that brought Trini Lopez, Dan Hill and Stephen Bishop). BDW and I would like to request that you bring the Foo Fighters next ok?! 😀
