Consider this as a re-review! I first reviewed Indigo Baby’s Sun is Shining sunblock almost a year ago (see the review here).I bought it at Expo Kid along with a few other items for DW.
I loved the fact that Sun is Shining is made of natural ingredients and is free from harmful substances such as parabens, phthalates, PEG’s, propylene glycol, SLS, dioxanes, synthetic fragrances and oxybenzone. Although having sunscreen is still better than having none at all, it’s best to stay away from these ingredients that are now known to have negative effects on our body’s normal functions in the long run.
What I didn’t love is that the sunblock spread like curdled milk. I thought it was because we kept it in an airconditioned room, but nope the lotion was really heavy and grainy which was probably why it was really difficult to spread.
I discontinued using the sunblock and looked for another alternative. Well, a few months after that review, the yummy mummies of Indigo Manila sent me an email saying that they too were dissatisfied with the first formulation of Sun is Shining and that they have now improved it. They sent me a free sample of the reformulated sunblock to review 🙂 We first used the product last Christmas when we went home to my province. We used it again last Sunday when DW and his cousin took a swim at the clubhouse.
Take a look at the difference:
This was before (the old Sun is Shining)
And this is now:
I didn’t add anything to the lotion. The texture really has changed and the lotion is now as smooth as butter! Everything else remains the same like the really clean smell and the all natural ingredients like Beeswax, Grapeseed extract, Grapeseed Oil, Zinc Oxide, Vitamin E, Lavender and Chamomile Oil. Spread the lotion on your bub 20 minutes before a swim or a stroll to make sure that he/she is protected from the harsh rays of the summer sun.
I couldn’t be happier with the product and a happy mommy makes for a happier baby!
Thank you again to the yummy mummies of Indigo Baby for the heads up and for the free sample 😀
The sunblock retails for Php360 (150 grams) and is available at your favorite organic shops like Sesou Nature Source and EchoStore 🙂

May 9, 2011 at 11:26 pmHi! I don’t usually react to blog reviews but i just wanted to share that i recently discovered a new line of baby & kid’s sunblock at Healthy Options. I used indigo sunblock before and i was satisfied. But was happily surprised to discover this new line from alba organics, i think. Reasonably priced as well. I think it’s less than P300 and smells wonderful too!

It’s nice that they reformulated.
Ako naman I liked the Beach Hut Spray-on Sunscreen for kids coz it’s really mess-free and not sticky. Also made a post on it. Pati ako nakikigamit and used it during our recent trip to Subic 🙂
