The call for help has gone out again and here’s a small compilation of ways to reach out and help those affected by Maring.
There is a lot we can do to help. We can donate goods, volunteer our time, spread positive information and to pledge money. Also, if you’re on twitter or IG, help repost tips and information to your friends and followers. Pinoys have always risen above these tragedies (let’s hope we rise above the Pork Barrel scam too) and so I hope this list helps out.
Here’s a few things to be mindful of when donating goods to our fellow kababayans:
- Donate wearable clothes
- Donate NEW underwear (ROCKEd Philippines would usually have clean undies drive during storms, I have yet to see an announcement from them though)
- Donate sanitary pads
- Donate slippers
Last but not least, donating formula milk is a big NO NO. Here’s why:
“Distributing any type of milk powder to the general public is not a good idea. Why? Because mothers will use this as infant formula, which is bad because 1) it isn’t suited for consumption by children younger than 1 and 2) it again exposes the infant to illness from contaminated water.”
