Our weekend stay at Wilson’s Place also included a tour of Yoki’s Farm. If you are going to book a weekend at Wilson’s or if you’re just on a day trip to Tagaytay, make sure to check out Yoki’s farm. Here are 3 fun reasons why you should add this farm to your itinerary:
1) Nature!!
The kids really loved the farm. David went up to this pretty flowering plant and told Dan “Dada, take my picture!!” It’s always wonderful to have the kids discover and enjoy new experiences. We are mallrats but anything that takes us out of the city and puts us smack dab in the middle of mother nature’s creations is always a welcome break for us.
Bring baskets and your bayong when visiting the farm because you can buy veggies and fresh herbs at the farm. We went home with arugula, rosemary, cherry tomatoes and really fresh and crisp lettuce (Thank you Racquel!!) But the winner are these mulberry trees. The kids picked and ate fresh berries off the trees. David looooved the berries! He probably ate a dozen and even brought home a few more. It was such a wonderful treat.
The berries were so beautiful. It was the first time I saw berries in nature. I felt like Katniss during the Hunger Games, but without the survival factor haha.
In addition to the fresh veggies, the farm also has orchids and herbs. Just ask the guide for prices 🙂
2) Yoki’s Treasure!
The Biggest Laughing Buddha is found here in the Philippines and at Yoki’s Farm. Behind the Buddha is a warehouse of artifacts collected and amassed over the years by the patriarch of the family who owns the farm. If you like the show American Pickers, you will definitely enjoy this area.
The collections range from the kitschy to the really valuable.
Pink gloves signed by Manny Pacquiao!
There were vintage Coca-Cola items, old weapons (I saw a musket), and these collection of typewriters and a really early version of a personal computer. Floppy disks where art thou? Hehe
3) The Aviary
The farm also has an aviary which houses the most beautiful macaws, peacocks and one majestic eagle. There are also rabbits, pigs, chickens, turkeys, peacocks and a herd of goats and sheep. The animals are kept in cages far from the guests. Given the size of these amazing animals, safety really is important. The macaws are as tall as Noah (and just as noisy haha) This isn’t a petting zoo though but it’s still going to be a wonderful experience just the same.
Do you see the sea eagle? He’s on the cage floor, standing. Tambay lang?
This peacock came toward us and just stared at us as if he’s so used to people taking his pics. Ikaw na!
A herd of sheep and goats. This guy just stared us at too. He was probably thinking, “stop staring, take a picture, it will last longer” and so we took pics 😉
There is no entrance fee at the farm and walk-in visitors are welcome 🙂 Make sure to make a stop at Yoki’s the next time you come to Tagaytay!
