Each week I get a couple of requests for product reviews. I try to agree only to those that are relevant to the blog and that I know will be of use to you guys too. The goal of my reviews really is to provide you guys with new information on new products that you may want to try yourselves. One of the requests for reviews I got was from Sandrine Chanto, a senior student of Ateneo De Manila who is taking up BS Management. Their group came up with a Gourmet Cupcake Baking Kit and she wanted me to feature their product on my page. I immediately said yes because 1) I have a soft spot for college kids and school projects. I used to be one (haller) and I know how hard it is to get your projects from idea to fruition 2) I LOVE BAKING. All my baking shenanigans are archived here. I’m still trying to figure out my way around desserts and any form of help that would further my love for baking is welcome 🙂
When I read the brochure for the gourmet cupcake kit, one name stood out — Penk Ching 🙂 The recipes for the cupcakes are inspired by THE Penk Ching. I couldn’t afford Penk Ching for my wedding cake (she did my brother’s wedding cake though ang bongga lang talaga) so baking her recipes is an absolute win for me.
So I said Yes to Sandrine and shortly thereafter I got this in the mail:
I was so excited. So excited that I baked the day after I got the kit!
The kit is good for 9 cupcakes and comes with prepackaged ingredients, cupcake liners, icing ingredients a cute brochure. The box is also a cupcake courier that you can use to store and transport your cupcakes too. Ang galing lang 😀 The flavor I got was for Going Bananuts (Banana Walnut). Other flavors available are Choco Blast (Moist Chocolate), and Warm Cinnapple (Apple Cinnamon).
This is the brochure. The instructions are very clear and simple and are typed in big bold letters.
The prepacked ingredients are also clearly labeled.
You only need a few ingredients from your own pantry. I recruited a trusted baking assistant during that day to make the activity even more fun
For my own twist to the recipe, I added chocolate chips
The finished product:
Moist, chewy and delicious. My hubby BDW is not a huge cupcake fan and he finished two of these! I felt so proud!! (look at me feeding my family!! haha)
I iced two cupcakes. Even without the icing the cupcakes were delicious. The pack also came with sprinkles which DW kept because he wanted to eat them as is 😛
I really love this and as an amateur home baker this is just awesome and really helpful. It’s not cheating because the baking is still done from scratch. The kit really stands by the groups promise to “make things simple while still preserving that one-of-a-kind baking experience.”
The kit retails for only 300 and includes everything you see in the photos. If you buy three kits you only need to pay 750! You can place your orders via email at brightbakers@gmail.com or via their facebook page at www.facebook.com/brightbakers
Now here’s your chance to win your very own cupcake kit from Bright Bakers!! Just enter using the rafflecopter widget below and like the BrightBakers Facebook page and you’re done!! (I also included options to follow me on twitter or to like the manilamommy FB page but you can go ahead and skip those if you’ve already done so (thanks!!))

Nikky H. Why says
February 28, 2012 at 9:18 amThe packaging and concept are adorable.
One question for the Bright Bakers though… Why did you feel the need to put (what looks like) styrofoam inside? Try to think of the by-products of what you sell please! How much trash will you create?

February 28, 2012 at 11:38 amHi Nikky!
Thank you for letting us know your concern; rest assured it is the same for us as well. Seeing as how the product is taking off as strong as it is, it has come to our attention that we too must be environmentally conscious and responsible for what we are distributing if there is any hope of indeed being a Bright Baker not only in the kitchen, but in the general sense of being bright as well.
We are hoping that you would be glad to know that we have stopped the use of styrofoam in manufacturing the rest of our products and we are working on the possibilities of having our packaging itself made from more environmentally friendly, or reusable and recyclable materials.
We really appreciate your feedback and concern, and are very much excited to work on a new, more exciting, and earth-friendly packaging for all the bright bakers out there!

Just wondering do you do online clothes shopping for your kids as well?
I just bought some from Little Parisians (http://www.little-parisians.com/) and I find them very cute! Check it out too!
