I attended Iblog6: The 6th Philippine blogging summit last April 16 and 17 together with my brother EJ and his wife Ginger who both run Manila Reviews and Manila Fitness. The first time I’ve heard about iblog was from Markku Seguerra of Rebel Pixel. I was actively blogging at multiply then and I’ve always wondered what it would be like to go to a summit like this.
I’ve been blogging since 2002 and my first online journal was “Babble Ramble” and it was hosted on blogdrive. I’ve been blogging on and off ever since. I even got my friends to blog in a way when I opened an online logbook (you know like the ones in org tambayans?). In 2005, my brother opened Manila Reviews but we never got around to it until last year. Good thing EJ still kept payments on the domain though! As for me, I went back to blogging at multiply as “The Girl is Gone” and my first posts where about my wedding planning. I’ve never looked back since
When news of Iblog6 came up,I signed up for it in an instant. The seminar is free and Digital Filipino Ms. Janette Toral was behind it. The summit was two days of learning from Pinoy blogging superstars such as Janette Toral, Noemi Dado and Abe Olandres to name just a few. It was inspiring to hear them share their tales of success and to hear them talk about the future of blogging in the Philippines.I should’ve gotten up to say hi to them but believe it or not, I couldn’t muster the guts to do so. Shy ako sa personal
Talks ranged from blogging 101, monetizing blogs, responsible and ethical blogging, how blogs can stay relevant and blogs as a tool for the community. Different bloggers, talking about different topics all made up for two great days of learning. The participants were also very active and relevant questions were asked from the speakers. The Pinoy blogging community is growing exponentially and I’m excited to be a part of this blogosphere!
Ang saya ng iblog6! Sa uulitin Visit the iblog site HERE for more info on the topics covered during the summit.
It is really a great and helpful piece of information. I am glad that you shared this helpful information with us. Please keep us up to date like this. Thanks for sharing.
@rims – hi – there’s no need for hard coding now. if you want to put up a self-hosted blog, you only need to download wordpress.org and it’s just one push publication. blogspot is the same as well
you may want to try out doing a blog on blogspot first to get the feel of blogging. it’s really easy now! good luck!
Heya this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi new friend! I started my ice cream blog na! hahaha!

Hi Neva! I met your brother EJ and your sister-in-law (I guess no?) Ginger a few weeks ago at an event in Marriott Hotel.
Enjoyed iBlog6 as well even though I missed some parts. The parts I got to see was well worth the stay.
Will be going to next year too!
Hi Rey! Yeah, we’ll make this a yearly trip, and maybe next year di na kami masyadong shy to say hi haha! I know they’d be uploading some of the presentations at iblog’s blog. Baka makahabol ka dun
Hi Neva. I’m glad that you enjoyed it. The event organizer by the way is the University of the Philippines – Internet Society Program (UP-ISP). Hope to see you again next year! =)
Hi Janette! Thanks for dropping by
