I was without a yaya, a husband and a mom last Sunday and so it was just me and DW the whole day. DW is trying to assert his independence now which made for very interesting conversations throughout the day. Example:
Act 1:
Me: Tara DW kain na tayo ng tanghalian, Lunch time na. (DW let’s eat it’s lunch time already)
DW: Hinde. Ayaw ko kain. (No. I’m not eating)
Me: Bakit? Kailan ka kakain? (Why? When are you eating?)
DW: Bukas. (Tomorrow)
Act 2.
Me: DW bihis na tayo we’re going out for merienda (DW, let’s change our clothes we’re going out for snacks)
DW: Ayaw. (No.)
I still took his shirt off and tried to put on a new t-shirt.
Me: DW sige na, suotin mo na ‘ tong t-shirt. (C’mon DW wear this shirt)
DW: Ayaw. (No)
Me: Anong gusto mong suotin? (What do you want to wear?) (I actually took out two shirts and I was letting him choose)
DW: Hubad lang. (I want to be naked)
I was tempted to let hm go out naked but I don’t think my brother had enough cash in his wallet that day to bail me out when I get arrested by the Barangay. I only had 100 in my wallet that day too.
DW’s teachers during our first Parent Teacher Conference last week told us that DW talks like an adult. I think what they really meant was “Pilosopo po anak nyo” (Your kid is a smart a$$). I can’t blame them. We talk to DW like he IS an adult — no baby talk and also in Filipino. Reasoning with a 2 yr old is hard work and I’m pretty sure 50 percent of what we’ve told him has gone way over his head so our talks must be walked. Walking the talk is the hardest and that is for another post. (Don’t get me started on the junk food!! I love chips and chocolates!)
So for now I leave you with this pic of Pilosopo Tasyo, intently studying the map of Sentosa.
How about you mommies? What recent convo did you have with your kiddo/kiddos made you laugh out loud or left you stumped? Please share!!

August 22, 2012 at 2:21 pmAccuse Me – My dad farted one time, Yuri, my daughter came up to him and said, “Accuse me, say accuse me!” Dad laughed and farted again.
Strippers – First time we heard it, she’s looking for her favorite slippers one morning and asked my husband, it goes like, “dada, where’s the strippers?”

December 9, 2011 at 5:11 pmAng saya ng may kids sobrang kulit nila. Yung 3year old kong si Yuan marunong na sa computer. Minsan naglaro sya sa yahoo and then biglang umalis sa computer at nagpuntang kwarto.

I had to withdraw from kindermusik class because ang layo na namin. We just moved sa libis at ang hirap gumising ng mas maaga. Baka itry ko muna ang gymboree sa eastwood. sayang, lagi pa nya sinasabi na “see david and teacher suzette!” sila lang dalawa ang kakilala. haha.
Si pablo naman pag binibihisan, “no t-shirt, sando only.” pag pinilit sasabihin, “that’s not good mommy.” hahahaha

July 27, 2011 at 1:55 pmLolz. I always end up wishing I have a recorder with me each time I’m left alone with Maia. Magugulat ka na lang talaga sa mga nasasabi nila. Maia is so much into pretend play these days and she likes to play Mommy to her dolls. Minsan I’d hear her say: “mga anak ko, halikayo carry ko kayo” Or minsan I’d catch her bfeeding her monkey doll. Haist nagmamadaling lumaki. Hehe.

And may reversal of roles na. Ako na yung pinapagalitan nya… She told me once, when I was working from home and I was called for lunch — “Mommy, you’re always in front of the computer. That’s not nice. Your eyes will get yayay!”
At si AnaB, pinagalitan nya — “Tita Ana, why are you late? Don’t be late next time, okay?”
