As I write this, you have probably grown another centimeter and gained another ounce. You still have to grow a full head of hair though as you’re still pretty much bald. Well, you have a thick strip of hair right smack in the middle of your head like a flat faux hawk which I always comb upwards as I dry you after your morning bath.
As I write this, you’ve probably discovered another vegetable to munch on, another cartoon character that could make you smile and a new skill that would totally wow everyone in this house. You’ve been trying to sit up now and the smile on your face when you do sit up literally brightens up a room. You are our dreary day buster and all you need to do is smile, or giggle or maybe even laugh. I remember when we first heard you laugh, it was as if your dad and I won the lottery! Now we always make it a point to make you laugh and if it means crouching on all fours, hiding behind closet doors and making weird faces in public, then by golly we’ll do it all for your giggly littly laugh.
I remember when you were tinier that I was so afraid that I might break you into pieces if I hug you really tightly. Right now, if I do give you a tight hug, you always manage to squirm right out of my embrace. Whereas before you would just listen to the sounds that you hear around you, now you can scream with the best of them. You have the loudest squeals bugoy so your dad and I are bracing when you finally learn how to throw tantrums (nayks!).
As you grow dear DW, so do your father and I. When we first held you in our arms, we knew we were in for a ride. We had no clue how to parent you and I guess it’s safe to say that we still pretty don’t know much now but God knows we try bugoy.
What we do know is that we love you and that we will forever show you and make you feel that you are and will always be loved.
Can we strike a deal and the next time we change you that you keep your pee in the diaper? Mom’s running out of clothes that don’t have pee stains or — maybe you can just hit dad, it’ll be our little secret ;). Love you DW!
